Daydreams...

1 note

Things I am going to do the INSTANT Finals Week is over

SLEEP- I’ve always had trouble sleeping but I have had serious insomnia ever since my surgery. Translation: I’ve gone over a month with barely any sleep, sometimes only an hour or two a night, which is currently being exacerbated by all the deadlines and studying I have to do.  My body is literally shutting down on me and refusing to continue like this any longer. This winter break I am going to seriously work on developing a normal sleep schedule.

Workout- I’ve started making a conscious effort to eat healthier and work out 3x a week again. I’m not focusing on it as much right now because of finals, but after this week I’m going to really get back into it again. I’ve started the Couch to 5k workout plan, so sometime in February I should be finished the 9 weeks and able to run 3 miles straight. If you know me and how much I’ve hated and avoided running my entire life you know this will be a big deal lol. I’m getting back to my 8 glasses of water, a multivitamin and Biotin every day too.

Protective Style- I’ve been experiencing a lot of dryness with my hair lately, partly because of the colder weather and partly because due to all the stress at the end of the semester, by the time I get to the end of the day I’m just too exhausted to really take care of my hair as well as I would normally. Literally the day after my last final I am getting yarn braids so I can give my hair and myself a break for the winter. I just got a hair cut a few weeks ago, which was necessary, but I’m still anxious to get back to the length I was, so hopefully I see a good amount of growth from this as well.

Read- I miss reading for pleasure. I’ve been sneaking a book or two in between studying the last few days because I’m so excited to get back into it lol. This winter break I am going to make a dent in my reading list.

Relax- Yes, I have to make a conscious effort to relax. I’ve literally been so stressed out that I’ve been getting sick. I’m not trying to be worn down and run ragged with poor health at a young age. I’m going to relax, breathe, time manage, stop over committing myself and find healthier ways to deal with stress, maybe try some yoga or something lol.

Anyways, that’s it. My list of goals for this winter break, well at least as they stand right now. I’m sure more will develop along the way. Looking at them, I guess they mostly consist of taking better care of myself, physically and mentally.

P.S. Is it just me or is winter break shorter and shorter every year?
